Current Community Development Projects and Programmes


Engagements:
Oriental had 20 engagements/meetings with Effiat Host Community Representatives in 2010


MOU:
Oriental drafted and negotiated a Production MOU with Project Host Communities. We are expecting for the MOU to be signed in 2011.


Construction of Teachers Quarters:
Construction of a 14 room self-contained apartments in Effiat is in progress. Project is expected to be commissioned in 2011.


Women Empowerment (Micro Credit Scheme):

  1. 500 community women were trained on financial literacy programme.
  2. 200 empowered with a self sustaining revolving loan.

Employments – 157:

  • Drilling Campaign AD-9 Rig – 17 employments

  • Field Production MOPU/FSO – 20 employments
  • Surveillance Contract – 100 employments

Coastal surveillance contract with Project CRC members for information and intelligencegathering is running in both the Ebok and Okwok fields respectively.


Community Development Plan:

  1. Community Needs Assessment conducted in 2009 by Fate Foundation Ltd. during ourappraisal phase which included our immediate Host Community.
  2. Now that we are moving into the production phase of our project, a five year NeedsAssessment is being carried out in 2011 to include our larger host community base.

Free Comprehensive Eye Treatment To Host Communities

Abuja, 2007 - Oriental Energy Resources Limited, in collaboration with its Technical Partner, Addax Petroleum Development (Nig) Ltd., have come together to provide comprehensive free eye treatment and eye glasses to over 800 indigenes of its host communities in Akwa Ibom State.

The beneficiaries of the program, which cost over N15 million, were drawn from five local government areas that constitute the Oron Nation and Mineral Committee  (ONOMIC) in Akwa Ibom State.

The examinations that took place over a four day period in both the Ebughu and Effiat communities in the Mbo Local Government Area of the State, were administered by a team of medical practitioners. 

The State’s Commissioner for Environmental and Mineral Resources, Lady (Barrister) Valerie Ebe commended Oriental and its Technical Partner, Addax for undertaking this program while she also appealed to the communities to cooperate with the Companies to ensure a successful eye treatment exercise.

The Communities are located adjacent to OML 67 (Okwok Field) where Oriental is Operator.


    Oriental Star Donated To The Oron Nation

    Abuja, 2005 - Oriental Energy Resources Limited has donated a 30 person enclosed water taxi, The Oriental Star, to the Oron Nation for the benefit and use of the peoples of the host communities in Akwa Ibom State.  The Communities will run the water taxi on a self sustaining basis.

    The host Communities are located adjacent to OML 67 (Okwok Field) where Oriental is the Operator.
